Basics: Location, Access, and Fit

1. Where is DeSoto Bluffs Campground located, and what is it near?

DeSoto Bluffs Campground is located on Lookout Mountain at 2350 Dogtown Road SE, Fort Payne, Alabama 35967, a 10-minute drive from Fort Payne and convenient to DeSoto State Park, Little River Canyon National Preserve, DeSoto Falls, Weiss Lake and Lake Guntersville.

2. Is the drive in suitable for larger RVs and trailers?

Yes. The access route is designed for typical travel trailers and motorhomes; roads are gravel inside the property with gentle grades and turning radiuses appropriate for standard RV lengths. We recommend arriving in daylight on your first visit to make navigation easier.

3. What size RVs can you accommodate?

Our full-hookup RV sites accommodate rigs up to 55 feet in length, not including the tow vehicle. Site lengths range from 28 to 60 feet, and each site’s length is shown on the site map.

4. Are your sites pull-through or back-in?

Currently all our sites are back-in. Future phases will include pull-through sites.

5. What are the campsite surfaces like?

RV pads are compacted gravel with defined borders: nine are 60 feet long and 12 feet wide, seven are 40 to 46 feet long and 16 feet wide, and three are 28 to 36 feet long and 20 to 26 feet wide. There is space for your rig and outdoor seating, and tow vehicles park in a separate parking area. Sites are graded to be as level as practical for RVs, but we still recommend bringing leveling blocks or pads for fine adjustment.

Sites, Hookups, and Utilities

6. Do you offer full hookups at each site?

Yes. Every site has water, sewer and electric hookups.

7. What electrical service is available?

All sites have 20-amp, 30-amp and 50-amp electric service so that most modern RVs can plug in directly. We recommend bringing your own surge protector and any adapters you commonly use with your rig.

8. What kinds of sites will you have?

We offer full-hookup RV sites, some with bluff views. All have easy access to on-site hiking trails. At this time we do not offer tent sites.

9. Is water available year‑round?

Potable water is available at each RV site, with year-round access. We utilize heat strips to prevent pipe freezing.

10. How reliable are the utilities?

We have underground utilities and fiber‑optic internet. As with any rural mountain setting, brief power or connectivity interruptions can occur during severe weather.
